Having a staring contest with a blank canvas
can be highly frustrating. The blank canvas can be literal or a symbol
for anyone who has felt creatively dry or simply stuck.
All artists run into creative hurdles. The toughest part of a creative
block is the unknown. Doubts creep in. Old insecurities begin to emerge.
Your inner critic takes over and you know the rest…
10
Ways to Clear a Creative Block:
1) Don't panic. Feel it & go through it.
2) Create a deadline.
3) Know when to let go.
4) Be open.
5) Work the way you work best.
6) Be around other artists.
7) Listen to yourself.
8) Journal.
9) Pay attention to your dreams.
10) Take action.
The paths to creative solutions usually aren't straight lines. Much
art comes from experimenting and throwing away. The Greek definition
of risk is "to sail around a cliff."
Let your art be an adventure. Feel it. Be bold. Be quiet. Listen to
what it's telling you. And let it take you where it wants to go.
Other
blocks that keep us stuck:
Beliefs -Attitudes - Fears -Money - Procrastination - Distrust -
Judgment
Everyone has old patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that are
no longer useful. These patterns can sabotage your attempt to reach
a fuller, richer and more meaningful life.
Observe yourself often and become mindful of your beliefs, thoughts
and feelings. Do they support your vision for yourself? If not, replace
them with ones that do.
